China Glaze Lotus Begin and Born Pretty water decals

China Glaze Lotus Begin from the City Flourish collection.

I'm really not to sure where to start with this one. The photos are deceiving in my opinion. The formula for this polish is truly terrible. It's chalky and streaky and uneven and terrible. Did I say terrible. I meant TERRIBLE. I used three coats and it was still uneven. I then added two coats of top coat trying to get it to level off, but that only helped a bit. I realize it isn't that noticeable in the pics, you'll have to take my word for it. I like the colour of this polish though. To me it is like a neon and a pastel had a baby this is what you would end up with. Does that even make sense?

So, I wasn't really diggin' it and decided to add some feather water decals that I got ages ago from the Born Pretty Store. I applied the middle finger first and it was sliding all over the place, so it was easy to get it where I wanted it. Applied the ring finger and it wouldn't budge? Have no idea why. The application process was exactly the same. Now I had an oddly place feather. Oh well : )

Thoughts on this polish? I know I have read some mixed reviews on this collection. So far, I'm not impressed. Maybe some of the other shades with turn out to be better. The decals I liked. I find decals to be a simple and fun alternative to do it yourself nail art. Anyone can manage water decals and there are a ton of design options available.

Thank you for the visit and I hope you enjoyed!

Julep Elisa swatch and review

Julep Elisa swatches for you today.

Elisa is a lavender creme with shimmer. Although the shimmer is VERY subtle. The formula was on the thicker side, so apply with caution. I used two medium coats for full coverage. This polish mostly self leveled and top coat took care of the rest.

Overall thoughts are that this is an okay polish. Nothing unique or spectacular. I tend to feel this way about most of my Juleps.
For information on becoming a Julep maven, you can find the details HERE.
Hope you enjoyed the swatches.

Vapid by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics

Hi everyone. Are you all sick of green polish yet?

Today I have Vapid from OCC. It's a lovely pale lavender creme. The first coat was streaky, but the second covered completely. It didn't quite self level, but top coat did take care of that! I did have a few stray bristles on the brush that had to be trimmed. I don't know why, but this always drives me crazy. The other thing to note about colour is that it does wash out a bit in direct sunlight. I don't know if that is an issue for you or not, but I thought I would mention it.

This is the only polish I have from this brand, so I truly have no standards for it. I liked it. It isn't anything unique, but had a nice formula. I can see me wearing this again. The biggest downfall is that I can only buy it online from Sephora. It isn't carried in any local store.
Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you back soon :)

Formula X For Sephora - Racy

Racy is one of the new chrome effect polishes from Sephoras new polish line. I have to say that normally I really despise chrome finishes, but this was a pleasant surprise! Actually, I had two surprises. The first is that I had full coverage in one coat. The second is that it wasn't streaky. Imagine that. On the Sephora site this is described as a metallic lavender. Pretty accurate. The photo they use on the site I find a bit deceiving. It looks more purple in that photo then it does in person.

Photos are one coat of Racy with top coat. Natural light. I did not test this for wear time. I did test this as a stamping polish though. It works! In fact it worked really well, so even if you aren't a fan of chrome finishes you should consider it for that fact.

Scofflaw Nail Varnish Cloud Cuckoo Land

Some pretty polish to show you today! Scofflaw Nail Varnish Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Cloud Cuckoo Land has a pale lavender creme base and is full of glitter in two shades of purple, copper, and white. I used two medium coats on short nails. No undies, but you could layer this. Nice glitter payout, but I recommend letting it sit upside down for awhile before applying as my larger glitters were all at the bottom. Photos are with top coat. I really enjoyed this polish. Pretty and feminine.

To purchase you have three options. Scofflaws Etsy shopLlarowe or Femme Fatale Cosmetics. No matter where you live, you have options. Please note that as I write this Scofflaw's Etsy store is empty, but I did see that this polish was available on Llarowe. Hope you enjoyed!

Girly Bits Spring It On Me!

Today I have Girly Bits Spring It On Me! to show you.

Spring It On Me! is a lightly tinted lavender base that is meant to be layered.  Contains various size and shaped glitter in pink, purple, green, white, and silver. I may have missed something!  Applies nicely.  No dabbing required. Wasn't top coat hungry either. I really loved the colour combo of the glitter in this. Really reminds me of a garden in spring.  My photos show two coats layered over Essie Full Steam Ahead.

Dollish Polish This Pop, Rocks!

Today I have another Dollish Polish from the new Candy line.

THIS POP, ROCKS! is a clear based glitter topper. Contains purple micro glitter, small pink hexagons, medium neon green hexagons, black diamonds, and lavender stars. The stars were difficult. I managed one on my nail. I have this layered over Essie Turquiose & Caicos. I'll have to admit, I had a hard time deciding what to layer this over! So many possibilities. Photos are 2 coats of This Pop, Rocks! over the base colour.

Candy Lacquer Valentines polish

I apologize for not posting in a bit. But I'm back with Valentine's polish from Candy Lacquer, so I hope that makes up for my absence!
Warning: This post is pic heavy. They were so pretty I couldn't help it!

Up first is Vintage Valentine. Applies very nicely even though the base is a bit thick. No digging for glitter needed, even the bigger hearts. I have 2 coats of Vintage Valentine over Butter London Fiver. Close up shows 2 coats of Vintage Valentine over a clear base so you can see all the individual glitter. Contains various size and shape glitter in white, red, black, and aqua. Click pics to enlarge.

Next is Love Rocks. The clear base in this one has a bit thinner formula then Vintage Valentine. Again, applied easily and no need to fish for bigger glitters. Shown is 2 coats of Love Rocks over Essie Play Date. Close up is 2 coats over a clear base. Various size and shape glitter in white, black, purple, and silver.

Last up is Love-ly Lavender. Once again, no issues with application. 2 coats over Sinful Colors Cinderella. Close up is 2 coats over a clear base. Various size and shape glitter in lavender, periwinkle, holo, and purple.

I really liked all 3 of these. The most difficult part of these polishes was deciding what to layer them over. Took me a while to make up my mind. Candy Lacquers can be purchased HERE.

Hope you enjoyed today's post. And Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

Hebridean Sprite Beauty

Welcome to day 15 of my month of indies!

Hebridean Sprite Beauty is a relatively new indie brand. The shop was opened in October 2012. Today I am showing you 3 polishes from the Mythological Collection. For more information on these polishes and how the names came about, I recommend her blog that you can see here. And here is the link to the store. Polishes are $10.00 each and all are 100% cruelty free and vegan. So on to the polish...

Brownie Helper is a lavender creme, shimmer polish with pink and purple micro glitters. Subtle yet eye catching at the same time. Photos show 4 coats, no top coat. This can also be layered. Formula was great and this dried surprisingly fast for 4 coats.

Selkie Shift is a gold/beige creme, shimmer polish with micro and small holo glitters. Photos shown are 3 coats. No top coat. Great formula.

Loch Ness Monster is an aqua creme/shimmer with blue and green small glitter plus aqua micro glitters. Formula wise this was great as well. Photos show 4 coats, no top coat.

I really like all three of these. They are glitter polishes, but subtle enough that you could wear anytime, maybe even to work. Formula was fabulous on all. If you want to see some of her newer creations, please check out the facebook page. I hope you enjoyed!
