Pretty and Polished Swatches The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway and Girl Next Door

Hello there! Today I have two shades from Pretty & Polished to show you.

First up is The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway from the Winter 2014 collection. This is a blue jelly with tons of silver bling. I used three coats plus top coat. I did have to let the bottle rest upside down for a bit, as the larger glitter had begun to settle.

Up next is a glitter topper, Girl Next Door from the Country Girl collection. Mix of gold, minty blue, and royal blue. I have this layered over Cult Nails Lamestain. I thought it was a great combo except for the fact that the clean up of Lamestain was a major pain that didn't go well. Photos are one coat of Girl Next Door. Really good coverage for a glitter topper.

The Body Shop Nail Polish Relish The Moment

Today I have a new to me polish brand to share with you. The Body Shop recently released their own polish line named Colour Crush. 100% vegan and they currently have 24 shades. The bottles are 6.8mL and retail for $6.00 cdn.

I have swatches of Relish The Moment for you. This is a straight up blood red. You'll have to excuse my pics. I realized too late that I hadn't photographed these. My nails are a bit dinged up from work. The polish held up well though. This is two coats. It applied evenly and completely self leveled.

Emily de Molly The Unloved

  Today I have Emily de Molly The Unloved. This is a dark red jelly with pink and red glitter. There are also large silver holographic dots.
I had pretty good coverage with two coats. Some areas were a bit lighter, but nothing too noticeable in person. The large dot glitters were a bit elusive. If you wanted some on every nail you'll need to fish a few out of the bottle. Was smooth with a coat of KBShimmer clearly on top.

China Glaze Don't Let The Dead Bite Swatches

Today I have swatches of Don't Let The Dead Bite. This is the only polish I got from the China
Glaze Halloween polishes this year. The rest just didn't look appealing to me.

This has a flesh toned nude crelly base with various shapes of red glitter. It applied really easily and I had full coverage in two coats. Photos below are with top coat.

These two photos are with OPI matte top coat.

I think I preferred it matted. Anyway, I liked this, but didn't love it. Formula wise there were no issues. It was actually quite flattering with my skin tone. I was surprised by that.

Stamping Over A Purple Base

The Sunday challenge this week was stamping over a purple base.

My base is Julep Morgan, which is a lovely pearly purple. I decided to stamp with Konad red and used Messy Mansion plate 07.  Nothing terribly exciting, but I like it.

Canada Day Nail Art

Back with one more Canada Day manicure for you. What can I say, I love my country!

The white base is Cult Nails Tempest. The glitter is KBShimmer Candy Cane Crush and the red is OPI Coca-Cola Red. The maple leafs are vinyl decals from Eat.Sleep.Polish.

The chevron nails are guides bought from NailVinyls. (link below) You may have noticed that the glitter nail has a bit of a brownish tint to it. This is from the scent used in it. If you layer it over anything but white, you won't have this problem.

Canada Day Nail Stamping

My first Canada Day manicure for you.

My base colours are Cult Nails Nevermore and Tempest and OPI Coca-Cola Red. Index finger is stamped with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep using MoYou Mother Nature 07. Middle and ring fingers are plate BM-H11 using Rica Whiteout and Mundo de Unas Black. Pinky is plate BM-004 with Silver Sweep again.

The New Black Find Your Cherry ombre set

Today I have The New Black ombre nail polish set in Find Your Cherry. I got this for Christmas. So many untrieds. Oops.
If these polishes have individual names, I couldn't find them. Each polish in this set has a different finish. Thumb is a vampy red crelly that needed 3 coats. Index is a red metallic, 2 coats. Middle is a cherry red with holo shimmer, 2 coats. Ring finger is 3 coats of a barbie pink crelly and the pinky is a straight up light pink glitter. I used three coats but still didn't quite have full coverage.

I received quite a few compliments while wearing this manicure, but sadly, I didn't love it. There is nothing wrong with the polishes or the colours, I just wasn't feeling it. I think the main reason is because they didn't all have the same finish. I'm not even sure why that bothered me, it just did.
As mentioned, this was a gift. If I had to guess it was purchased at Sephora.

Oh Canada nail art

Today is a better late then never post. These are the nails I was sporting for last weekends gold medal hockey game at the Olympics. Can you guess who I was cheering for? Go Canada !!!


White is Cult Nails Tempest. Black is Cult Nails Nevermore. Red is Sally Hansen xtreme wear in Pucker Up. I made the maple leaf decal and then applied it to the nail. Crooked ;) Oh well. This was my first attempt at a braided nail, or fishtail nail. Not sure which is the correct term? Think it turned out all right.

Tri Polish Challenge Jan. 7

Hi everyone. This year I have decided to try out Crumpet's Nail Tarts weekly tri polish challenge. For the month of January the colours chosen were yellow, orange and red. Ew yellow! Anyway, below is my first submission.
Polishes used:
yellow - OPI Candlelight
red - Revlon Colorstay Red Carpet
orange - Sally Hansen insta-dri Heat Flash
glitter topper -  Nubar White Polka Dots

So I decided to try out some new things this year, and this is one of them. I also hope that it will improve my nail art skills. I guess we will see about that. Don't forget to visit the other bloggers below that are also taking part in the challenge! 

Lucky 13 Lacquer Cherokee Rose swatches

I bought some Lucky 13 Lacquer polishes a few months ago. Sadly I am just getting around to trying my first one! The life of a polish addict, right? I need more hands!

Cherokee Rose has a white/cream crelly base with various size gold glitter and a bit of fine red glitter thrown in. I only needed two coats for this mani! Everything was nice and smooth. Love it!!!

Festive Stamping with MoYou London

Yes, I know this isn't the best stamping ever, but it was a victory of sorts. I finally managed to get a squishy stamper to work! (mostly)

I used MoYou London plate Festive 04. Base colour is Julep Kate and stamped with Mentality Sexy. So, overall this turned out okay. I think the biggest problem is that the designs are too big for my itty, bitty nails! Live and learn, I now know not to order the XL plates. The regular will be fine for my nail size.

As you can see, the patterns were too big for my nails. Still proud of myself for making improvements. Thanks for having a look today!
