Picture Polish Blue Dog

Today I have a Picture Polish collaboration for you. This polish was created with Vampy Varnish.

Blue Dog is a dusty blue with blue and purple flecks. It was kind of hard to capture it all nicely. Great formula. Two coats for full coverage and self leveled perfectly. Nice and shiny with a top coat.

So blue isn't a shade I normally gravitate towards, but this one caught my eye, and I wasn't disappointed. Everything really works together nicely. I bought this from Nail Polish Canada. If you would like a list of international stockists or to purchase directly, please visit Picture Polish.

Powder Perfect Magnus Bane and Downworlder

I was really excited that Harlow & Co. brought in some of the Powder Perfect line. I love being able to try new brands. And I seem to have a weakness for Aussie indie brands. Powder Perfect polishes are 5 free and come in 13 ml bottles. Both of these shades are based on the Mortal Instruments book series. Yes please!

Magnus Bane is a black jelly based polish full of glitter. In fact, there is so much purple micro shimmer in it that it does look more purple then black. All the glitter didn't interfere with application. It went on easily and I had full coverage with two medium coats. Smoothed out perfectly with one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top.

Downworlder is a deep blue jelly with holographic glitter in silver, blue, and teal. Not as densely packed as Magnus Bane. I used three thin coats. And again, one coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top smoothed everything out. No issues to report with application. Has a great squishy look to it.

I was really happy with both of these polishes. I can't wait to try more from this brand!

Glam Polish Beyond Belief

Today I have a newer Glam Polish release for you.

Beyond Belief is a light purple creme with magenta and lime glitter. I really liked these colours together. Great formula.  No issues at all with application.  Full coverage in two medium coats. Photos are with top coat and it was completely smooth.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Stonemother's Kiss

Stonemother's Kiss is described as a navy jelly base with lavender holo, navy purple shards, fuschia and glints of orange. Also contains large circle glitter. I used two coats of Stonemother's Kiss over OPI Funky Donkey which is a medium purple creme. As this is a jelly base, I do recommend that you layer it over a base colour. Any dark purple, blue or black would work well. The larger circles need a bit of patience. Some do come out on the brush, but you may need to dig for more. You will also need a good top coat to smooth our your manicure. I used a coat of Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter Food followed by a coat of Seche Vite.
I have to apologize for the picture quality. For some reason this polish gave my camera the fits?

Overall, I like the final result even though the large circles were difficult. I liked how layering it over a purple gave it a bit of a blurple look! Plus, I like the word blurple!

Lunar Halo by Femme Fatale Cosmetics

I have to start by warning you that this post features my new super nubbin nails! I had a terrible break on my swatch hand. Right down to the nail line! Ouch. Things like this happen and the polish must go on! Nubbins it is.

Lunar Halo is described by Femme Fatale as "A shimmering beige filled with iridescent blue and green shimmers, and accents of silver. Best layered over a matching base colour."
I chose to layer this over OPI My Vampire Is Buff. I used two coats of Lunar Halo over my base colour. This polish was extremely thick. Please be warned. Although it can be manipulated, it was difficult to apply nicely. The large hexes tend to sink, so I recommend letting the bottle sit upside down before using. This made it much easier to retrieve the large glitters. I used two coats of KBShimmer Clearly On Top top coat to smooth it all out. Overall, I like the final look of the polish, but I wish the formula was more manageable. I also need to point out that I did end up with chipping at about the 24 hour mark. Emily de Molly Fashion Victim

Well, if you need a pick me up, I have one for you today. I needed something a bit brighter so I went with Emily de Molly Fashion Victim.

Fashion Victim is a bright pink jelly with various sized pink glitter including holographic. Applied really nicely for something with this amount of glitter in it. I only needed two coats for full coverage. A third coat would be required for those with longer nails. My photos are with top coat. Any curl you see is just reflective. No curling to report!

Dreary Days by Arcane Lacquer

Very excited to be trying a new indie polish. Today I have Arcane Lacquer.  You may also know Arcane Lacquer as the blogger NailGunXS. Unbelievable swatches at her blog! In fact, it is a bit embarrassing to show the pictures I took of her polish. Seemed to be a polish that didn't get along with my camera/lighting.

Dreary Days is a purple toned dark grey crelly with small black, blue and purple glitter. It's a subtle mix that works very well. I used three coats and no undies. I did find a had a small amount of thinner patches that I had to go back to and do a bit of dabbing. Not too much trouble. This does dry to a semi-matte finish, so you'll want a shiny top coat. As stated above, I apologize for the coming pics!

Alanna Renee Evening Amethyst

Alanna Renee is a new brand for me. I recently purchased this at Color4Nails. I just recently discovered this shop. Bad for my bank account! Great place to find indie polish without the craziness that you find with some e-tailers.

Evening Amethyst is a deep purple shimmer. The shimmer is quite subtle. Has a bit of a blue undertone. I needed three coats. I would recommend layering this over a similar purple or black. Applied evenly and dried quickly. Also very shiny with no top coat. I did not test this for wear.

Overall I liked it, but it didn't wow me. Classy shade for day or night. I can see using this for some nail art. What do you think?

Glam Polish Margaritaville swatch and review

Glam Polish is a new to me brand. Mostly because until recently it was only available in Australia. Now I have the option of purchasing either through Color4Nails or Llarowe.

Margaritaville is a peach base with purple metallic glitter and bright pink hexagon and lime green squares. The larger pinks were a little elusive, but you didn't really have to fish. If you wanted more on your nail, you would have to. My favourite are the green squares. Just loved them! Application was easy. Three thin coats. Nice and smooth, no issues with hungry glitter! Average dry time.

Emily De Molly A Certain Shade Of Green

Today I have swatches of Emily de Molly A Certain Shade of Green. Forgive my lack of clean up, I had run out of time to get my pics done.

A Certain Shade of Green is a turquoise green with hints of blue jelly base. Very hard to describe the colour of this! Contains silver, lavender and pale green glitters. Just the right amount of glitter in this to make it all blend nicely. I used two coats, but could probably have done with one more. Applied easily and dried smooth.

electric dream and freya's cats from picture polish

I have two of the new Picture Polish collaboration shades for you today. I don't know about you, but I always look forward to these releases!

Electric Dream by Nail Polish Anon. "Shapes that shift shine so bright." This is a neon coral with gold flecks and a scattered holo! Quite hard to capture the spark in this, but IRL it is quite eye catching. FYI, this contains no glitter. It just looks like it does. Photos are three thin coats with top coat. No issues with application report.

Freya's Cats by Nihrida. "For all the nail cat ladies!" Freya's Cats is a royal blue crelly with holographic shimmer. Officially this is considered a blurple jelly, but I just don't see it that way. I normally don't gravitate to blue polishes, but I had to have this and I wasn't disappointed. Totally amazing. Photos are three thin coats with top coat. Again, no issues with formula.
